More Than A Third Of LGBTI Athletes Won Medals In Rio

صورة
That's more than Team USA From: NewNowNext  35 percent of the record-breaking 53 out athletes competing in the 2016 Rio Olympics took home medals, either solo or in a group. This in comparison to leading Olympic contenders the United States, Great Britain and China, who saw roughly 20 percent of their athletes take home medals. If all the openly LGBTI athletes were consolidated onto one team, their five gold medals, six silver medals and three bronze medals would have placed them in 16th overall, ahead of countries like New Zealand, Canada and Kenya. Though the 2016 Games were not without their controversy, including journalists outing athletes and fans shouting homophobic chants at players, they also saw empowering coming out moments, joyful proclamations of same-sex love and plenty of proudly out athletes taking to the Olympic podiums. Here’s hoping the 2020 Games in Tokyo will be even gayer!   Gold Medals: Nicola Adams   Great Britain Boxing  51kg weight class   Kate Richardson-...

ERM… Some Chick Leaked a Pic of Michael Phelps’ D on Instagram

صورة
From: Cocktails and Cocktalk  We’ve had our fair share of boy drama, but this takes the biscuit. They say there’s nothing like a woman scorned, and while we don’t have a clue – or care in the fucking slightest – what’s going on between the US swimmer and his girlfriend Nicole Johnson, but apparently Phelps has been flirting up a storm with someone called “Dana”. Which, realistically could be anyone, though the account has since been deleted. HMM, possible catfish?!

Did Brazilian Swimmer Eduardo Amaral expose penis in Snapchat video?

صورة
While most of the Brazilians are concerned about how their country is going to fair in the Olympic games, hunky Eduardo Amaral seemed to have other things on his mind – so much so, it spilled out of his pants. The swimmer, who is a champion at the breaststroke, is clearly pretty ‘handy’ at another type of stroking too. We think you’ll need a little dip in the Olympic pool to cool down after this. He’s still in the junior leagues, but we’re sure he’ll be going for Gold at the next Olympic games. Medal worthy? Eduardo Amaral, pictured in a 2015 photo posted on Facebook (left) and the man in a Snapchat video. Not everyone believes it’s Amaral in the video, though. The young man in the video is wearing a tank top, making a comparison using Amaral’s swimming photos difficult. Some have noted obvious differences in an ear and the nose. “That’s not him,” someone commented at Instinct. “It’s a totally different guy.” I would agree, it is not Amaral! http://famous-skin.tumblr.com/post/14853621...

How Ryan Lochte Can Fix His Image With One Perfect Move

صورة
Because it couldn't be any worse. From: NewNowNext   Ryan Lochte might just be the most hated man in America right now.  In the wake of his appalling lie, he’s become a punchline for late-night talk show hosts. All of his major sponsors—including Speedo, Ralph Lauren and hair-removal brand Syneron Candela—have dropped him.  And even the thirstiest queens have stopped panting over him. There were so many amazing stories coming out of Rio, but they were overshadowed by the actions of Lochte and his irresponsible teammates. And then he made it worse by running away and then doubling down on the lie. So how can he recover? The 2016 Paralympics kick off in Rio on September 7. But the games are facing a massive budget shortfall—something in the order of $85 million. That means some events (though not meets) will be canceled, and others will have to be relocated to smaller venues. Transportation and media resources will be scaled back dramatically, as well.  And worst of all, some smalle...

47% of out LGBT athletes won an Olympic medal in Rio

صورة
Of the 53 publicly out LGBT athletes, 25 of them won a medal including 10 gold. From: OutSports Britney Griner and Elena Della Donne won gold for Team USA women's basketball. Jeff Swinger-USA TODAY Sports Almost half of the publicly out LGBT athletes competing in the Rio Olympics won a medal, which is a drastically higher percentage than the athletes in general. All told, 25 of the 53 publicly out athletes, a full 47% -- won a medal, including 10 athletes winning gold. In 2012, about 40% of the publicly out LGBT athletes won medals, as Team LGBT did very well for itself at the Summer Olympics in London. This number is even higher, thanks in part to the success of the Swedish women's soccer team and the American women's basketball team, which combined account for almost a third of the athletes winning medals. It is odd that being publicly out would translate to Olympic success in two straight Summer Games. You have wonder if there is a correlation. Gold Medals Nicola Adams G...

Bad ass out Tongan swimmer Amini Fonua remained the gift that keeps on giving—

صورة
For my Portugese speaking fans: "Assim é como fazemos em Tonga, mostramos nosso apreço aos trabalhadores com sorvete! Sim! ❤️🇹🇴😙 A video posted by Amini Fonua (@aminifonua) on Aug 19, 2016 at 8:44am PDT

Out Olympian Amini Fonua Thanked The Rio Volunteers In The Best Possible Way

One of the bravest athletes competing in Rio is also one of the sweetest. From: NewNowNext Out Tongan swimmer Amini Fonua spread cheer around the Olympic Village in Rio yesterday, handing out ice cream to the volunteers who’ve worked so tirelessly to keep things running there. “This is how we do in Tonga, show our appreciation to the workers with ice cream,” he said, handing an ice cream bar over to a volunteer maintaining the tennis courts. And a thank you.” For my Portugese speaking fans: "Assim é como fazemos em Tonga, mostramos nosso apreço aos...

Ryan Lochte Apologizes For Not Being More ‘Careful’ and ‘Candid’

صورة
From: Towleroad US Swimmer Ryan Lochte publicly apologized for not having been more “careful” and “candid” in his description of events that happened late at night at a gas station in Rio de Janeiro. As previously reported, Lochte claimed that he and his teammates were robbed at gunpoint by criminals disguised as police officers and that a gun was cocked and aimed at his forehead. He later revised the specifics of that story. Local police investigated Lochte’s claims and found no evidence to corroborate his version of events. Police then indicated that Lochte and his teammates vandalized a gas station bathroom and urinated on the floor. Lochte still insists that the incident ended with a gun being pointed at him. Read Lochte’s apology in full, which he posted on Instagram, below: I want to apologize for my behavior last weekend — for not being more careful and candid in how I described the events of that early morning and for my role in taking the focus away from the many athletes ful...

10 Times Ryan Lochte Was A Perfect ‘Sex Idiot’

صورة
From: Queerty Oh Ryan , you precious meathead. You are so nice to look at, and so full of protein. Your lovely body is a beauty to behold; and your hair, when you have not accidentally dyed it green, is a thing of loveliness. It’s no wonder you were cast as “Sex Idiot” on that one episode of 30 Rock . Please, do not speak another word. Or maybe do: sometimes, the jumble of words falling from your lips only serves to highlight that you have two main functions in the public sphere — to swim and be gazed upon. Alas, Ryan has recently developed a third function, and that is to be a jailhouse model after being accused by the Brazilian police of fabricating a story about being held up at gunpoint. The truth, they say, is that he and some other swimmers broke a bathroom door at a gas station. Why would this require an elaborate hoax about a holdup? Who knows how Ryan might have located this story in the labyrinth of his mind. But it is certainly not the first time that Ryan has made our h...

Sources Claim Lochte Lied About Rio Robbery; Footage Shows Fight With Security Guard

صورة
From: Queerty According to Brazilian sources, Ryan Lochte and his three teammates lied about being robbed at gunpoint this past weekend. To make matters worse, the sources have released surveillance footage that shows one of the swimmers fighting with a gas station security guard, according to ABC. Ryan Lochte Keeps Changing His Story About That Alleged Robbery

صورة
From: Queerty As it has been reported, claims by Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte that he was robbed at gunpoint along with three fellow teammates has raised loads of speculation as to the veracity of his story, with Brazilian authorities trying to figure out what really happened on Sunday morning. One thing that’s not helping matters: the fact that details about the alleged robbery keep changing in significant ways. During a brief telephone interview with TODAY ‘s Matt Lauer, Lochte contradicted his earlier account of the robbery, which he’d related to TODAY ’s Billy Bush earlier this week: The guy pulled out his gun, he cocked it, put it to my forehead and said ‘get down.’ I was like (puts hands up) I put my hands up. I was like ‘whatever.’ He took our money, he took my wallet. But speaking with Lauer, Lochte said the gun was aimed in his “general direction.” He initially told Bush, “We got pulled over in our taxi and these guys came out with a badge, a police badge. No lights, no nothin...
