“I Still See All The Red”: First Responder In Pulse Massacre May Lose His Job

My hair, my skin, my whole respiratory system.” That’s Officer Gerry Realin , talking about the smell of death that still haunts him in the wake of the Orlando nightclub massacre that left 49 revelers dead and at least 50 others seriously injured. Two months since the attack, Realin tells The Orlando Sentinel that he still sees “all the red.” Realin was one of seven members of the Orlando Police Department’s hazmat team assigned the horrible task of removing each body from the nightclub; a duty he says they carried out with “dignity.” Now, he’s been diagnosed with PTSD, but the father of two is worried he won’t be able to support his family, since the condition can’t be claimed as a work-related injury in Florida. Last Friday marked the two month anniversary of the Pulse nightclub shooting, and Trump spent the day giving a speech to conservative Christians just a few miles away from the site with his former opponent, Marco Rubio. But while Rubio shockingly preached LGBT tolerance at the rally, Trump neglected to bring up LGBT issues at all. The presidential hopeful received criticism for his decision to attend an evangelical pastors event described as “an anti-LGBT rally” this week as well. Pulse Shooting Survivor Angel Colon Takes First Unassisted Steps

"SO HAPPY!" From: NewNowNext It’s been two months since the horrific massacre at Orlando’s Pulse nightclub snuffed out 49 innocent lives and altered many more irrevocably. Angel Colon , who survived the attack, was shot six times and trampled by club goers trying to flee. The 26-year-old Zumba instructor was rescued by police officer Omar Delgado, who dragged him to safety at a nearby Wendy’s. Last week, Colon danced while seated at the 2016 Zumba Fitness Instructor Convention in Orlando. But yesterday, the two-month anniversary of the massacre, he posted a video showing him taking his first steps without help. The clip was flooded with hundreds of positive comments and has been shared more than a thousands times on Facebook. True Life: We Are Orlando airs Monday, August 15, at 8pm on MTV.

From: NewNowNext  On Monday, August 15 MTV will air a special episode of True Life featuring four survivors of the deadly mass shooting at Orlando’s Pulse nightclub .  True Life: We Are Orlando follows the survivors as they try to come to terms with the horrific event and the after-effects it has had on their lives. “The memory of the gunshots and screams keep me up at night,” says Joshua McGill during the special. “And when I finally do go to sleep, the events of that night keep replaying over and over again.” During the True Life: We Are Orlando special, MTV will air a remembrance dedicated to the 49 victims of the attack as well as to the survivors. The tribute will feature the song “Hands,” with Britney Spears, Mary J Blige, Jennifer Lopez, Troye Sivan, RuPaul and more.
