Glistening Shirtless Tongan Athlete Pita Taufatofua Returns for Rio 2016 Closing Ceremony

صورة
From: Towleroad  Tongan taekwondo athlete Pita Taufatofua , who caused a stir two weeks ago when he appeared during the Rio 2016 Opening Ceremonies shirtless and glistening with oil, made a repeat performance at last night’s closing ceremonies. Wrote Taufatofua on Instagram: “And now they know!!#WhereisTonga Congratulations to the best ever Tongan Olympic team! And to the beautiful people of Brazil for a Marvelous Olympics… We did it!” Taufatofua did not win a medal, but he became more famous than many who did, and was perhaps the most popular ambassador for Tonga that the nation has ever had. Sports Illustrated reports: “I was here because it took me 20 years to get here,” he said. “People thought I walked out with a shiny body and was an overnight success. F— that. … It was 20 years of work to walk out on that stage and be chosen as the flag bearer.” The crowd at Carioca Arena 3 chanted “Tonga! Tonga!” Saturday, at a volume that Taufatofua never imagined hearing before he got to Bra...

Tonga wins for hottest male flag bearer at the Rio Opening Ceremony

صورة
Pita Taufatofua competes in taekwondo and looked really good carrying the Tonga flag shirtless in the Opening Ceremony of the Rio Olympics. From: OutSports His name is Pita Taufatofua , and chances are you noticed him carrying the flag for Tonga in the Opening Ceremony of the Summer Olympic Games in Rio. Going shirtless in the warm Brazilian evening, he caught a lot of people's attention.  Taufatofua competes in taekwondo in the Olympics, in the over 80kg class. He is the first athlete from Tonga to ever compete in taekwondo in the Olympic Games. . His competition was not until Saturday, Aug. 20; It doesn't get much later than that. It makes it all the more cool that he carried the Tongan flag, given he had to wait and train in Rio for his competition.  Last year it was (then-closeted) gay swimmer Amini Fonua who carried the flag for Tonga in the Opening Ceremony. Fonua competed on Saturday, Aug. 4, in the 100-meter breaststroke.

Bad ass out Tongan swimmer Amini Fonua remained the gift that keeps on giving—

For my Portugese speaking fans: "Assim é como fazemos em Tonga, mostramos nosso apreço aos trabalhadores com sorvete! Sim! ❤️🇹🇴😙 A video posted by Amini Fonua (@aminifonua) on Aug 19, 2016 at 8:44am PDT

صورة
*coconut oil sales shoot through the roof* From: NewNowNext   Pita Taufatofua , the beautiful Tonga flag bearer who quenched the thirst of millions when he walked into the Olympic Opening Ceremony, showed off his glistening muscles again on the Today show.  Speaking with Al Roker, 32-year-old professional taekwondo athlete revealed the coconut oil he was slathered in is actually a cultural tradition, as was the straw ta’ovala (Tongan mat) he had wrapped around his torso. “It was crazy. It was 20 years worth of work to get me there,” Taufatofua told Roker. “It was sort of surreal, hard to describe. It’s a crazy feeling.” Taufatofua appeared to have more to say but the interview cut quickly, as three ravenous female co-hosts including Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager, were anxious to get their hands on him. The cardinal rule for any journalist writing about gay Olympians

صورة
Or any LGBT athlete or person for that matter. From: OutSports Amini Fonua, a swimmer from Tonga, is one of the openly gay LGBT Olympians in Rio. DON'T OUT ANYONE!* *Or publish any identifying information that might lead to the person being inadvertently outed. When in doubt, leave it out, and double check with the athlete. Or pose on Grindr as someone you're not. That is all. Otherwise, you will need to see the ass of out swimmer Amini Founa: Yo @nicohines & @thedailybeast - if what you were looking for on Grindr was hot ass (and I don't see any other reason why you'd be on there) here you have mine in all its proud glory. From: Queerty OK, so we can’t stop fawning over Amini Fonua. The openly gay, 26-year-old Tongan competitive swimmer is our Olympic crush of the moment. At 6’0 and 174-pounds with sparkling green eyes, a full head of wavy brown hair and buttery olive complexion, Amini is one tall, lean drink of water. But don’t just take our word for it. Gay Olympian responds to The Daily Beast article outing gay athletes

From: Wicked Gay Openly gay Tongan athlete Amini Fonua responded to that gross article from The Daily Beast that might have outed gay athletes today, and he did not come here to play! Olympic swimmer loves wearing 'gay & lesbian' on his swimsuit

صورة
Olympic swimmer Amini Fonua enjoys being an out gay man in swimming, and he proudly wears the label on his swimsuit. From: OutSports While Outsports has seen more male athletes come out in swimming over the last five years than almost any other sport, only two male swimmers in the Rio Olympics are publicly out. One of them is Tonga's Amini Fonua , who swam for Texas A&M and competed in the 2012 Olympics in London. Fonua received a swimsuit a while back from what was then called the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center, complete with the name of the organization on the back of the swimsuit. Fonua has not shied away from wearing it wherever he can, but he's made it a point of doing so around other elite swimmers.  "I have worn that suit to every single practice leading up to Rio, because there's not a lot of diversity in swimming," Fonua told the Center's Jim Key. "It's a gentle reminder to everybody and myself that I'm different, and to take p...
